White Spot Treatment
White spots are fairly prevalent and can be brought on by a number of things, such as decalcification, which is the loss of minerals from the enamel, and fluorosis, which results from high fluoride consumption as the adult teeth are forming. If there has been a gap in hygiene in the areas around the brackets, this might occasionally be the result of fixed brace treatment. In fewer instances, white patches may also be the result of molar incisal hypoplasia brought on by birth trauma.
Many individuals misinterpret white patches or mottling for stains and believe that whitening can make the colour more uniform. The spots would still be paler in colour than the rest of the tooth, though. Icon, a non-invasive therapy that concentrates on the pores, is required to permanently get rid of white spots.
How should they be handled?
In the past, veneers or composite bonding were the only options for treating teeth with white lesions. Modern dentists do not favour these procedures since they call for the removal or destruction of good tooth tissue.
Our Icon treatment at Smile Hub Dental Clinic can restore your tooth's natural colour without the need for drilling.
The white spots are merged with the remainder of the tooth using an infiltration technique in this minimally invasive procedure. Prior to applying a small amount of tooth-coloured resin, a specific gel is used to open the pores on the teeth. The resin is then made harder and given its original colour using light.
The best part is that we accomplish all of this without the use of a dental drill. It goes quite quickly and without any pain!
